Carer Gateway

Care2Serve delivers the Australian Government’s Carer Gateway in Tasmania.

Under Carer Gateway, Care2Serve staff provided a range of supports including carer support planning, professional counselling, peer support, and coaching. We also provided practical supports such as in-home respite, personal care, domestic assistance, and meal preparation. Care2Serve coordinated emergency support when carers were unable to provide the care that they usually do due to unexpected illness or injury.

Care2Serve’s engagement team also visited regional locations, connecting with local businesses and carers, raising awareness of the needs of carers and the ways in which Care2Serve can support carers. We attended community events and expos, sector network meetings, and gave presentations to community service organisations, school and hospital staff statewide.

Carer feedback on Care2Serve Carer Gateway services:

“Carer Gateway supports are FANTASTIC and have taken Ayres Rock from my shoulders.”

“Carer Gateway are the ones that have just helped with everything over the last 18 months. If it wasn’t for you guys, I would just be stuck in limbo.”

“From the 1st meeting we had, I felt your sincerity, love and support and it started my recovery from a desperate state… I felt a down-to-earth country warmth and compassion, a feeling of love… Thank you all.”

‘It’s always nice to ring you guys up. You make me feel so much better. You just make me feel so much better and I really appreciate it’.

Home and Community Care

Care2Serve delivers a range of activities under the Tasmanian Government’s Home and Community Care Program.

In 2024/25, workshops and courses were delivered to support carers in their caring role, focussing on early intervention, physical and mental wellbeing, mindfulness, relaxation, first aid, mental health first aid, craft and art-based activities.

Carer feedback / quotes:

“It is great to be able to get together with likeminded people who get it! “

“What an amazing and positive event today was. All carers LOVED it. The mindfulness therapy was wonderful with some really good techniques for carers to use to eliminate stress. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend this with the carers. I think we all benefited from it!”

“It was the perfect balance of time alone and workshops and connecting with other carers. It was really encouraging to hear the stories of other carers and to feel not alone in it all. It was also really useful to have time and space to think about life and how to create more balance.”
